Swedish luxury car maker Volvo on Wednesday upgraded its two bestselling models in India, the S60 sedan and the XC60 SUV, and priced them at Rs.
29.9-35.5 lakh and Rs.
40.5-46.55 lakh respectively.
The company has set itself an ambitious target of increasing sales 20-fold to around 20,000 units per annum by 2020. For this year, it is looking to sell 1,000 units, which would be a 23% growth over last year’s 811 units.
“We are aiming to sell 20,000 units per annum in India by 2020. We plan to enhance our product portfolio as well as service network to achieve the desired results,” said Tomas Ernberg, MD, Volvo Auto India.
“We are planning to have around 40 dealerships in India by 2020, with 15 by the end of this calender year.”
The company sells five models in the country, including the crossover V40 Cross Country launched earlier this year.
“S60 and XC60 models would represent roughly 75-80% of the sales. We are also looking to sell around 150-160 units of V40 during the year,” Ernberg said.
