Force Motors will launch the Trax Gurkha on February 15. The Trax Gurkha will be powered by the Mercedes-Benz sourced 2399cc OM616 diesel engine which sees duty in various other Force products as well, it is good for 75bhp and 19.88kgm of torque. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, and the car will be four-wheel-drive. Styling updates include an updated front section with redesigned headlights and a new grille. It also comes with roof rails, and alloy wheels taken from the Force One SUV. Expect an improvement in quality as far as interiors are concerned.

The OM616-powered Gurkha will initially be available only as a BS-III version, with a BS-IV variant expected later. The chief competitor to the Gurkha is the Mahindra Thar, which is available with a BS-III-compliant direct-injection diesel motor as well as a more powerful BS-IV CRDe unit. Expect Force Motors to price the Gurkha on par with the Thar BS-III.
