Kalam visits Maruti's Gurgaon facility

President APJ Abdul Kalam on Friday visited India's largest carmaker Maruti Udyog Ltd's manufacturing facility in Gurgaon. Kalam was accompanied by Haryana Governor AR Kidwai, Maruti said in a statement.
The President spent about 90 minutes in visiting the key areas of Maruti's operations at the facility. He also addressed the company's employees.
Besides looking at Maruti's R&D facilities, Kalam also showed keen interest in the company's production operations in Gurgaon. Maruti's Gurgaon facility has a manufacturing capacity of 3.5 lakh units per annum.
For a market that is one of the largest and fastest growing in the world, the performance of European car makers in India has been appalling.
