Cheers!” is for ageing uncles. “Bottoms up!” is for the sad souls who find life only at the end of a bottle. For a more sophisticated party at the end of a nice summer day, when the air is balmy and the clothes skimpy, you’ll want to retain the energy of the previous hours, but still keep things interesting for the night. We present: the board game. That wholesome little childhood pastime, which when mixed with alcohol can turn things very naughty indeed.
Games of skill
Drinking Chess: Get a chess set in which every piece is replaced by a shot glass. Put beer in the pawn shot glasses, your favourite alcohol in all the other pieces and start playing. Every time your piece gets cut, you drink.
Drinking Foosball: When you score, your opponent drinks. The more you score, the tipsier your opponent gets and so the easier it is to win. This version is also called Boozeball.
Drinking Basketball: Flip the basketball into the basket; if you miss, you drink. And if you make a clean swoosh without touching the hoop, your opponent drinks up.
Drinking Snakes and Ladders: The antidote to a snakebite? A single or double shot. Who says you need a ladder to get high?
Drinking Ludo: Reached Home? Drink the shot, and go back to the start for a refill!
Drinking Tic Tac Toe: One drink for every silly mistake. If you’re on a losing streak, you’ll end up having a shot every 30 seconds.
Drinking Roulette: As the ball falls on a number, you drink the shot glass with the same number, which is then refilled. The catch – some glasses have vodka, and some water (or you could add other drinks too), so that everybody gets drunk in very different ways!
Drinking Bingo: Roll the cage. Let a coloured bead fall out. If it’s the colour you’d chosen, drink up. Bingo!
Drinko: Choose a glass out of the six, and let the coin fall through the Drinko grid. You drink from the glass where the coin lands, and then refill it for the next person. But if the coin lands on the glass you chose, everyone else gets a drink.
Poker: The more you win, the less you drink. Can you hold your poker face after six shots?
