All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Naeem Islam each smashed half centuries to try to rally Bangladesh on the third day of its opening test match against the West Indies at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.   Bangladesh still trailed by 275 runs at lunch and would need
another 76 runs to avoid follow-on.

The West Indies failed to make any breakthrough by the first interval after Bangladesh resumed on the overnight score of 164-3.

Shakib (65) and Islam (62) added 88 runs in their partnership from 29 overs in the morning.

Ravi Rampaul's bowling figures stood at 2-66.
