There is something about England cricket players and peeing.
Just when we thought that Monty Panesar’s “slashing” of nightclub bouncers was history, it has emerged that three England players celebrated their decimation of archrivals Australia in the Ashes by “watering” the Oval wicket hours after the fifth and final Test ended Sunday.
The allegations, which originated from Australian journalists who were in the press box as darkness enveloped the ground, involve Stuart Broad, Kevin Pietersen and Jimmy Anderson who made significant contributions to the team’s 3-0 triumph in the series.
The three players took turns to urinate on the pitch after they sat on the ground with their post-match drinks, according to an Australian journalist. They relieved themselves as teammates cheered on.
Wicketkeeper Matt Prior tweeted a picture of the players drinking beer on the pitch, calling it the “best moment of the Ashes”.
KP’s Monday tweet “Morning #ouch # mayday” was telling enough and if there was need for confirmation, former captain Michael Vaughan was at hand. “Looks like England are already starting to prepare wickets for the arrival of India next summer. Watering the Oval last night after play!!!!” he tweeted.
