Mumbai boys' champagne celebration in poor taste

As under-19 Mumbai skipper Harmeet Singh Baddhan uncorked the champagne to celebrate the team's title-win in the Cooch Behar Trophy on Tuesday, a few senior BCCI officials had worried looks on their faces contemplating over the future repercussions if the under-aged players went on to take a sip
of the drink.

The seniors were not impressed with the style of celebration. Former India coach Lalchand Rajput slammed the players for uncorking champagne given their age. "It's not done. This is not the way to celebrate for their age group." Former India pacer Karsan Ghavri said it's not acceptable.

However, coach Satish Samant said the players didn't drink it. Thankfully, the players didn't, at least in public, as it would certainly have raised eyebrows as the Maharashtra state rules prohibit persons below 21 years (beer) and 25 years for hard liquor.
