A four-point agenda covering topics ranging from spacing out matches in the Ranji Trophy, the umpiring standards, feedback on the current Ranji format and quality of pitches, was discussed during the course of the BCCI's conclave for domestic captains and coaches in Mumbai on
Tuesday.

Chaired by the BCCI president N Srinivasan, the conclave saw team officials from 27 states along with senior officials from the board, including BCCI's technical committee head, Anil Kumble in attendance. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2013/3/06_03_13-metro19c.jpg

One of the important topics up for discussion was the congested Ranji schedule. It was proposed by most players and coaches, that the current system with a gap of three days between games was too short and left teams without proper rest and practice.

"The scheduling of games was one of the more keenly discussed topics. Sometimes it becomes difficult for players to rest as they hardly get time to travel when matches are scheduled in places like Assam, where certain time is also consumed in road travel," Mumbai Coach Sulakshan Kulkarni said.
