Amid reports of dengue outbreak from Pakistan, special arrangements have been made by the health department at the Attari-Wagah border here to examine visitors coming to India from the neighbouring country.
To overview the arrangements made by health department in Attari, the Centre's
Deputy Commissioner Immunisation, Pardeep Halder visited Attari border to review the arrangements following the threat of infectious diseases spread from across the border.
Halder examined the arrangements of polio drops for children up to age of 5 coming from Pakistan while directing the health team that no children from that country should go unchecked or without having polio drops.
Halder told reporters at the Indo-Pak border that so far the authorities have examined more than 89 cases from Pakistan and most of the cases were from tribal areas of Pakistan or North West Frontier.
He said that recently a case of Polio Virus P-1 was detected at Wagah border on Pakistan side, one of the most dangerous virus as per medical terminology, which put the Health Authorities on alert here.
Halder clarified that so far none of infected case came in lime light among the visitors arriving from Pakistan to India.
He said sufficient number of medical booths have been set up at the Attari border on Indian side so that not even a single passenger could go without complete medical checkup.
The authorities have so far administrated polio drops to more than 73 Pakistani children below the age of 5 at the international border.
