After performing across the world and entertaining over 6,00,000 people with over 5,000 shows, The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow will visit the Capital for the first time as part of the ongoing Oz Fest. The roadshow has been touring for over 14 years and has artists such as MC Dave Callan, musical duo Smart Casuals, Harley Breen, Cal Wilson and Matt Okine in its repertoire.

Members of the roadshow keep the humour and wit alive even in the replies to the questions we ask  them during our interview. When asked if they were excited to perform in India for the first time, Matt Okine says, “Performing in India is a dream come true. But in the dream, quite often there are cars driving down the wrong side of the road.” Cal Wilson adds, “It’s amazing. I can’t get over how colourful everything is here, how friendly everyone is, and how anyone actually manages to cross the road!”

Don’t expect a toned-down version of the performance as these stand-up comedians feel that Delhi audience is tough and can handle it all. “Delhi will get a really strong dose of our humour at the show. Up until now, all the comics have been tearing it up on stage and the audiences have been loving it,” says Roger David and Fletcher Jones of Smart Casuals. So, have they ever heard of any standup comedians from India?

“I went to Miami as part of a show on NBC called Last Comic Standing, and there I met an Indian comedian called Papa CJ. If you know him, please don’t tell him I’m in town. I owe him 10 rupees,” says Okine cheekily.
And the fun on the show is clearly only for adults as those below the age of 21 will not be allowed entry.
