Music and fashion ruled Rhapsody-2012, the annual fest of Delhi University’s Maitreyi College. The two day fest, which was held on January 30 to 31, was a fun-filled affair. Competitions such as rangoli-making, western music and Indian dance saw a large number of participants.
The
highlight of the fest proved to be the fashion show, which turned out to be a big hit with the students. Colleges such as Kalindi College, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC), Shivaji College, and Maitreyi College took part in the show.
While Kalindi’s fashion society - Chenille - showcased the theme, Colours of Feminity, Maitreyi’s fashion society-Galore - exhibited the shades of life and death with their extravagant costumes. DCAC’s Stylus.inc highlighted an Indo-western theme and Shivaji’s Bizarre attempted to depict an unusual theme titled, Opposers.
This show saw Maitreyi College bagging the first position, followed by DCAC. “We are really happy to win, as we were expecting this,” says Princy Jain, a participant from Maitreyi.
The fest also saw a band performance by Nasha, with lead singer Akhil Sachdeva belting out songs such as Tere Bina and Main Tenu Samjhawan Ki. He also sang original songs from his latest album. The crowd, especially girls, swayed to his tunes.
