Bhanu Athaiya is the first Indian to win an Oscar award for best costume design for Gandhi.
While Academy Award frontrunners George Clooney and Meryl Streep were trying to get over their loss at the recent Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, India’s first golden statuette, as we reported earlier, was doing the rounds of the Capital. And on its way, it came to HT City on
Monday.

The coveted Oscar trophy belongs to veteran costume designer Bhanu Athaiya, who has given the rights to take her trophy on a four-city tour as part of Star Movies’ Oscar Fever initiative.

All eyes are now on the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, where the 84th Academy Awards will take place on February 26.

While The Help has got a major boost with three SAG wins, hopes are high for The Artist and The Descendants.

Like every year, the event will see a host of celebrities, but actor Johnny Depp may skip the gala over rumours of his relationship problems.

The event will air live in India on February 27, on Star Movies.
