It is a film that is making news for being modeled on politician and founder of political party Shiv Sena, Bal Thackeray. However, filmmaker Raju Kokate, director of Mumbai Tiger, says that people should wait for the film to release.
“There is nothing like that. It is a complete
political film on lines of Sarkaar Raj and Satya but it is slightly different. It is about a character called Mumbai Tiger - jiski awaaz pe Mumbai chalti hai. I am yet to find someone to play this role. This is why it has been getting delayed. But I am going to start shooting the film with Kay Kay Menon, Anupam Kher and Nikita Rawal.
Kay Kay plays a close associate of the protagonist in the movie.” Tell him that the main character does remind one of Bal Thackeray, an authority in Mumbai and he says, “Now what can I say? Let the audience watch the movie and decide.” Actor Nikita Rawal was however more forthcoming. She says, “The film is about Mumbai and the main character is loosely modeled on Bala Saheb Thackeray. I play a Maharashtrian girl who is attached to the family and in the second half of the movie I become a political figure. Raju Kokate told me that it is clearly based on politics and is a very strong subject.”
Asked if she was fearful of a backlash from the Thackerays, she says, “This is not my matter. The makers should decide that. If I am offered a good role, I will take it.”
Actor Anupam Kher says, “I was supposed to do the film but I haven’t heard from them for a long time.”
