Star-studded Bollywood bashes have become the norm of late. But as Aamir Khan turns 48 on March 14, he will be busy working in picturesque Switzerland. He is currently shooting some action sequences there for his upcoming action-thriller, Dhoom:3. As a result, after almost a decade, Aamir will be away from home on his birthday.

“It’s going to be a working birthday for Aamir. He has always celebrated the day with his family in Mumbai, but this year, that’s not happening, as it’s not feasible for him to fly from Switzerland to Mumbai for a day. Also, it would hold up the shooting, and he doesn’t want that,” says an insider close to Aamir.

But they will have a small party for Aamir to make the day special for him,” says the insider.

Right before the Dhoom:3 shoot, Aamir wrapped up the first schedule of Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K. in Rajasthan. There, he had wife Kiran Rao and son Azad for company. “Also, his elder son Junaid was assisting Raju sir, so he was surrounded by his family members throughout the schedule. However, none of them travelled with him to Switzerland,” adds the insider.

Besides Aamir, actors Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra are also expected to be a part of the Swiss shoot schedule wherein the climax of the film will be shot.

Although Aamir couldn’t be reached for a comment, his spokesperson confirmed the news.
