Aamir Khan, who has become a messiah of sorts for the people of the country, has once again made a trip to the Capital to dicuss the pitiable condition of manual scavengers with the Prime Minister of India.
Getting a Friday clear of other releases is something filmmakers dream of. Long weekends and certain festive seasons — Eid, Diwali or Christmas — are extra special, with films fighting for the audience’s attention.

Rajkumar Hirani seems to have taken this practice very seriously. For P.K,
his next venture starring Aamir Khan, he has booked Christmas 2013 for the release, even though the shooting hasn’t begun yet.

Raju, who will also produce the film, last worked with Aamir in 3 Idiots. That film released on December 25, 2009, and went on to become the top Bollywood grosser of all time. Apparently, Raju not only wants to stick to their lucky date but also hopes to repeat history. Hirani’s spokesperson confirms the news, saying, “Yes, December 25, 2013 is the release date of P.K.”

After three big hits in his career — Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) and 3 Idiots — this will be Hirani’s second film with Aamir.

Insiders claim P.K will be a political satire, hitting out at corruption in the country. Aamir will play an alcoholic social crusader in the film. The character’s name was decided upon after considering many options. Hirani and Aamir chose P.K since the initials also sound like the Hindi word for ‘drunk.’ After fulfilling his commitments for Talaash and Dhoom 3, Aamir will begin shooting P.K.
