Aashiqui 2 mints over Rs. 24 crore in 4 days

Despite starring relative newcomers, Aashiqui 2 has grossed a massive figure in its opening weekend. The Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has earned over Rs. 24 crore already, tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

The business in mass-dominated circuits was fantastic, but was affected in metros due to Iron Man 3. Yet, all said and done, the weekend total was superb. Collected approx. Rs. 20.50 cr nett in its opening weekend, said Adarsh.

The breakup is: Friday 6.25 cr, Sat 6.75 cr, Sun 7.50 cr, Mon 4.25 cr.

Aashiqui 2 is about two singers in love. It has the Abhimaan angle of a famous artiste, Rahul, played by Aditya Roy Kapur, discovering a small-town girl, Aarohi, played by Shraddha Kapoor, and mentoring her to glory. But director Mohit Suri and writer Shagufta Rafique update the story. The predictable jealousy angle as the partner becomes more famous is sidelined for a thornier problem - he is an alcoholic. So, in fact, Aarohi's success becomes Rahul's salvation. For a while at least, it forces him to engage with life again. FULL REVIEW

Aashiqui 2: the proverbial rock star returns?
At the peak of his career, a rock star discovers talent in a shy female singer, whom he falls in love with. While she goes on to become a successful singer, he loses his career and then his mind. She, being the honest girlfriend, then helps him revive his career, and thus, their relationship.
