Critics have given Kai Po che a standing ovation and the audience, a big thumbs up. And Amrita Puri (left), the solo female lead in the film, is ecstatic. Although the film is a bromance, the 29-year-old says she never felt she’d be overshadowed by the boys — Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and

“I knew that it is a boys’ film and about their friendship. But I am the only female actor in the movie, so there was no competition. I saw it as a great opportunity because my scenes are lovely,” she says. Amrita, who auditioned for the role, says that the film’s director, Abhishek Kapoor, fondly called Gattu in the industry, didn’t know she was an actor when he picked her for the role. “He saw me at a party and asked a common friend, ‘Who is she?’ He thought I fit the part well. I always knew it was a great film, but I didn’t know how people would respond, since it didn’t have a star cast,” she says. While the actor is yet to sign her next film, she has a wishlist in mind. “I’d love to work with Anurag Kashyap, Anurag Basu and Vikramaditya Motwane. I want to do roles that I, as an audience, would enjoy,” she says.
