Did Ranbir Kapoor suggest that Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani be shot in Paris to promote Barfi?
They were initially set for an Argentinian outing but now, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone will shoot in Paris instead for their much-talked about upcoming film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani (YJHD), directed by Ayan Mukherji. It’s believed that the shift to the French capital has come about due to Ranbir’s other biggie, Anurag Basu’s Barfi!
Apparently, Ranbir and Deepika were supposed to go to Argentina on a 45-day long schedule, around July-end or the beginning of August. But since Barfi! releases on September 14, he wouldn’t have time to promote the film. “Ranbir wants to give his attention to all his films. That’s why he suggested that YJHD be shot in Paris because then he would be able to promote Barfi! in European cities such as London easily while shooting for the Ayan’s film. The makers agreed after considering all the options. Although it would be challenging for him to manage both things (shooting and promotions) yet, knowing his professionalism, Ranbir would do it,” says an insider close to the actor.
Now we hear that Ranbir and the team will shoot for 20 days in Paris. When contacted, YJHD producer Karan Johar denied it saying, “I don’t think shifting to Paris has anything to do with Barfi! It’s a creative decision taken by Ayan and his team.”
Till date, the film has been shot in places like Manali and Udaipur, where Ranbir and Deepika also shot for a romantic song. A major part of the film is being shot in Mumbai before the unit moves to Paris.
YJHD is a romantic drama starring Ranbir, Deepika and Kalki Koechlin and helmed by Ayan. The film will also see Aditya Roy Kapoor and model Evelyn Sharma in supporting roles.
