been practicing dialogue delivery in Tamil, Telugu and Bengali on the sets of Himmatwala at Bandra’s Mehboob Studios. Apparently, the actor will speaking in six languages in one particular comic sequence in the film. For the same, he underwent special training to get the accents right.
“Ajay speaks Punjabi, Gujarati and Marathi, so he instantly picked up the correct tone for those languages. But since he wasn’t familiar with Tamil, Telugu and Bengali, the filmmakers hired two language trainers (one for Tamil and Telugu and another for Bengali) for him,” says an insider.
It is probably the first time that something like this has been attempted in Hindi cinema. The sequence in question will see Ajay talking to six different people in six different languages. “The language trainers made Ajay practise the lines repeatedly,” reveals an insider, adding, “It was Sajid’s idea, since he wanted to appeal to people from different regions of the country. And when he approached Ajay with the idea, he readily agreed.”
Earlier too, Sajid came up with the idea to include a pan-Indian item song in the film that would see actors from six different regions dancing with Ajay and the leading lady, Tamannah Bhatia. “Sajid wants to ensure that audiences from every region of India connect with the film,” adds the insider.
When contacted about the story, Sajid said, “Wait and watch what we have attempted to do in the film.”
