Director Anurag Kashyap
After Gangs Of Wasseypur (GOW, 2012), Anurag Kashyap’s next release will be Bombay Talkies — an ode to cinema by four filmmakers — Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, Karan Johar and Anurag himself. For his part, Anurag is doing what he knows best — pulling off an eccentric stunt. He is going
to shoot at the mela with a hidden camera.

A source reveals, “Earlier, for GOW, Anurag shot an entire Muharram scene using hidden cameras, which gave a very real feel to the film. For Bombay Talkies too, he’s going to shoot with them at the crowded mela.”

Apparently, this year, the event has been drawing in more crowds than ever. The source adds, “Getting the required permissions is going to be a long process, but Anurag wants to use the visuals of the mela for his lead character. Since the story is of a common man from Allahabad (where the mela is taking place), who comes to Mumbai, this will add a real feel to the movie.”

Bombay Talkies is a landmark feature film, which will release on May 3, the date when India completes 100 years of cinema. For Gangs Of Wasseypur, Anurag shot an entire Muharram scene using hidden cameras.
