The foot-tapping sounds of Bhangra, along with the soulful tune of Pani Da Rang, echoed at HT House on Friday afternoon, when the multi-talented Ayushmann Khurrana came calling. The actor-singer-composer had come to meet the lucky winners of the popular HT City Stars in the City contest, as well as to promote his latest single, O Heeriye.

The session, conducted by HT City editor Sonal Kalra, was full of dance, music and fun, as the actor sang his new single for the fans, spoke to them in Punjabi and even spilled the beans on which city’s girls he finds the most charming. “I was recently in Ahmedabad and I thought the girls there were really pretty. Probably the hottest in the country,” said Ayushmann.
He might think that Gujarati girls are the most beautiful, but when one of his female fans in the Capital asked him to dance with her, he didn’t let her down either. So, he grooved with her on a racy Punjabi number. Asked how his wife Tahira deals with the extra female attention that he gets, he said, “Tahira and I have literally grown up together. We were in the same theatre group as well. So, she has seen my fan following increase gradually since college days,” he said.
The 28-year-old actor, who originally hails from Chandigarh, said he simply loves Punjabi cuisine. “I am a typical foodie. I live to eat. Desi Punjabi food is my favourite. But I am blessed with a good metabolism,” said the Nautanki Saala actor, who added that he had to tone up his physique for his next film, Bewakoofian, which will see actor Sonam Kapoor as his co-star. “It was hard work. I trained under John Abraham’s trainer Vinod Channa for the role,” he said.
The highlight of the event was when Ayushmann sang Pani Da Rang, his hit number from Vicky Donor, as well as the song, O Heeriye. His fans were in for a pleasant surprise, as he sang different interpretations of both the numbers.
