David Dhawan's Chashme Baddoor may have received flak from the critics but the audience seems to be giving him a thumbs up.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweets, "#ChashmeBaddoor passes 'Monday test'. Getting reports from various circuits that Mon has begun on a super note. Better than Fri morn shows!"

Adarsh earlier tweeted," #ChashmeBaddoor collected approx Rs. 19.20 cr nett in its opening weekend. Breakup: Fri 5.18 cr, Sat 6.27 cr, Sun *estimates* 7.75 cr. Fab!
#ChashmeBaddoor CI: Fri 22.40 lacs, Sat 24.60 lacs, Sun 35.60 lacs ... Mysore circuit: Fri 21 lacs, Sat 34 lacs, Sun 40 lacs. Fab growth!"

With Saturday's collections making it past those of first day, Taran tweeted, "#ChashmeBaddoor has had a rocking Sunday. Better than Fri and Sat. Super growth in every circuit. Numbers being compiled!"

Made with a budget of Rs. 17 crore, the funny drama has been produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. What seems to have worked in the favour of the movie is that the director revamped the script and set the story of Chashme Baddoor in Goa focusing on the current lot of youngsters and their life style.

The film collected Rs. 5.18 crore on Friday and Rs. 6.27 crore on Saturday, making the total to Rs. 11.45 crore.

The original, produced by Gul Anand and directed by Sai Paranjpye, revolved around three students living in Delhi - Siddharth (Farooque Sheikh), Omi (Rakesh Bedi) and Jai (Ravi Baswani) - and what happens when they meet Neha (Deepti Naval). The Sai Parnajpye-directed Chashme Buddoor was recently restored and released with the new Chashme Baddoor on Friday.

Dhawan's Chashme Baddoor features Ali Zafar, Taapsee Pannu, Siddharth, Divyendu Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Lilette Dubey.

Breaking up the collections for north India, "@taran_adarsh: #ChashmeBaddoor Rajasthan: Fri 31 lacs, Sat 30 lacs, Sun 48 lacs ... Punjab: Fri 49 lacs, Sat 60 lacs, Sun 71 lacs.."

The film also seems to be generating a good response outside India. "@taran_adarsh: #ChashmeBaddoor takes a fab start in Pakistan. Thu previews + Fri collects 47 lacs."
