Amitabh Bachchan may have lost count of how many times he has been felicitated by now, but he is excited to get honoured again at the Marrakech Film Festival, more so because it celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema. ”It’s very overwhelming to be here especially since our cinema is getting
appreciation in another part of the world,” says Amitabh.

He feels every honour comes with the responsibility of making Indian cinema bigger and better. This is not Amitabh’s first time at the Morroccan festival, but he is amazed with its growing popularity.

“I first came here in 2003. Over the years, the festival has become larger,” he says.

Surprisingly, there isn’t a single theatre in the region that screens Hindi films. Amitabh feels that filmmakers should concentrate on this part of the world too.

“(This festival) is an indication to producers and distributors to explore this market. There is a great number of international viewers here and they should benefit from it,” he says.
