If reports are to be believed, the sequel will be bigger than the original. We’re talking about Ram Gopal Varma’s film Department, a follow-up to Company (2002) and a prequel to Ab Tak Chappan (2004). Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan have already been
confirmed to play the roles of men in uniform. Now Amitabh Bachchan has also been roped in to play a senior cop.

Buzz is that the film revolves around four encounter specialists who fall apart following a war between the underworld dons who they owe their allegiance to. Varma apparently found his muses in real life cops like Pradeep Sharma, Vijay Salaskar, Daya Nayak and Sachin Vaze.

Conflict ahead
The turning point comes after a conflict between Dutt, who supposedly plays Pradeep Sharma, and Devgn who portrays Daya Nayak, forces others in the department, including Abhishek whose character is inspired by Sachin Vaze, to take sides. Bachchan is the senior officer who must ensure that the issues between his officers don’t come in the way of tackling the law and order problem in the city.

When contacted, Varma declined to comment on the casting, saying that the script is still being developed. Amitabh Bachchan didn’t respond to our text message.
