Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who was instrumental in bringing about a change with Rang De Basanti (2006), feels that change in our society cannot be brought by one or two protests.

Talking about the Delhi gangrape and the protests afterwards, he said, “Change won’t happen by one or two demonstrations or just by raising your voice. You have to devote a lifetime to it. We have to participate in running the country and in being a part of the society.”

Mehra was at his alma mater Shri Ram College Of Commerce’s annual sports fest recently. About his upcoming movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the 49-year-old said, “I grew up with Milkha Singh and Dara Singh. At that time (early 1960’s), the first international icon out of politics was Milkha Singh. When I got to know his story, I made up my mind that I’m going to share it with others when I’m capable enough... I really enjoyed working with Farhan (Akhtar) and Sonam (Kapoor) in the film. I now feel like I’ve grown as a filmmaker,” he says.
