Chitrangada to perform item number live

Vidya Balan enthralled the audience with a live performance of her The Dirty Picture (2011) song Ooh La La and Ranbir Kapoor along with composer A.R. Rahman took to the stage for a live concert of their songs from director Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar (2011). Now, actor Chitrangda Singh is set to take the

stage with her item number Kaafiraana to promote filmmaker Shirish Kunder’s upcoming release, Joker.

Chitrangada is not a part of the stellar star cast of the sci-fi film, starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, but the item song featured on her could be a great draw with the audience, believes the maker.

Confirming the news, Shirish says, “The song has turned out really well and we are very excited about it. As part of the promotions for the song, which is Chitrangada’s first item number it will be great to have her perform to it in front of live audiences. People have not really seen her dance, so it will have a great novelty factor.”

A source close to Chitrangada reveals that the actor who has earlier shaken a leg with Desi Boyz co-stars Akshay Kumar, John Abraham during the film’s promotion last year, in a city mall,is quite excited at the prospect.

“She will start practicing a week before she travels with the Joker team for the promotions,” says the source. She will be performing in Mumbai and Delhi and her trip begin post July 25.

Joker is set in a fictitious land where things start changing after an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) from another planet lands there. The makers are hurrying to start the promotion of the film as its release date has been preponed to August 21 instead of September 14. They have decided against releasing it in 3D.
