Prabhudeva's Ramaiya Vastavaiya is inspired by his Telugu film which was a refurbished version of Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). The story doesn't offer anything different and if you're looking for some acting, the film is not for you.
Prabhudeva's Ramaiya Vastavaiya starring Shruti Haasan and Girish Kumar is all set for a release. Take a look at the stills.
"Instead of Salman Khan and Bhagyashree (Maine Pyar
Kiya), we have Girish Kumar and Shruti Haasan. Around a quarter of a century separates the two films. Did anyone stop to ask themselves why and for whom they are remaking this film", says Shubhra Gupta of Indian Express.
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV also says something similar, "The rest of the film is so raucous and utterly tasteless that it is difficult to believe that any established producer would want it to be his son’s launch vehicle".
Since the story doesn't have anything fresh to be said, it was really the acting that critics were probably looking out for. Sadly enough, both Shruti Haasan and Girish Kumar don't deliver in the film.
Chaterjee says, "Girish Kumar, producer Kumar Taurani’s son, hides behind a four-day stubble in a bid to look more mature than he really is. His gawky ways give him away. Shruti Haasan is only marginally better but she, too, has miles to go before she can breathe easy as an actress".
Clearly worth a miss.
