DIVINE PROMOTIONS: Ekta Kapoor to organise free Iftaar parties

The Akshay Kumar starrer, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, is slated to release around Eid this year. And to mark the occasion, producer Ekta Kapoor is going to throw Iftar parties during the holy month of Ramadan. “She is planning to host five such parties at dargahs around Mumbai. Road is one of the top choices, they are yet to figure out the logistics.

The idea is to host free Iftars and feed the poor. Ekta actually wants to host these parties throughout Ramadan this year,” says an insider. As of now, her team is in the process of selecting the five dargahs.

Most of the major characters in Milan Luthria’s film belong to the Muslim community. “She is hoping that through these celebrations she will strike a chord with the audience. Her team is working on the last-minute arrangements for the five parties. If everything goes as per plan, Akshay might also attend some of these events,” adds the insider.

Ekta confirms the news, saying, “I am a religious individual. The good fortune that has come my way has always encouraged me to pray before the release of my films. For Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, which is one of the biggest releases this year, during Ramadan, we will offer devotees Iftars across five dargahs in Mumbai. This is my way of seeking blessings.”

The sequel to the 2010 hit is being touted as this year’s big-ticket Eid release. Though it is still under production, insiders suggest the producers and actors are working at breakneck speed to wrap it up in time.
