David Dhawan reaches out to the youth with Chashme Buddoor

David Dhawan is looking at making the first trailer of his upcoming directorial venture, Chashme Buddoor viral before it appears in theatres. The first look of the film will not only be launched on multiple traditional platforms, but also at local cyber cafés across cities in India.
Unlike other instances, where makers have uploaded trailers exclusively on video hosting site YouTube, Dhawan is exploring other options as well. Explaining the reason behind this marketing strategy, he says he wanted to attract the younger segment of his audiences. “It’s a youth-oriented film, even the tag line says ‘Har ek friend kamina hota hai.’ The trailer will be out around 3 pm today,” says David Dhawan.
Apart from big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Gurgaon, the trailer will also be launched in smaller cities and towns. “Cyber cafés are more popular in small towns and suburbs. And we realised that this was the best way we could reach out to our target audience in those areas,” adds the director.
Produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, Chashme Buddoor is Dhawan’s version of the 1981 romantic-comedy of the same name. This remake is set in Goa, and details the lives of three best friends, Sid (Ali Zafar), Jai (Siddharth) and Omi (Divyendu Sharma) who are trying to charm the same girl Seema (Tapsee Pannu) at the same time.
