Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan look hot in a still from the movie Race 2.
Abbas-Mustan (Last directed Players; 2012)
Players set a new benchmark for how far film promotions can go. Yet, the multi-starrer, which is a remake of The Italian Job (2003), failed to please critics and
audiences alike. It reportedly opened slow on the first weekend
and continued to lose attention.
As funny as Saif Ali Khan might look romancing Jacqueline Fernandez in Lat lag gayi, the song seems to have become a hot favourite. The track Party on my mind also comes close. The soundtrack, overall, has not been hated much.
One thing about Abbas-Mustan films is they don't seem to rely on drama to promote their movies. They make sure their PR machinery works overtime and gets them the desired overdose.
In a report, Saif recently called Race (2008) "an adult" film, and then went on to insist that Race 2 can be viewed with the entire family. But then, Race also did well at the box office. Wonder what the 'universal' tag will do for this one.
The directors tried fooling us into believing that they actually blew up a Lamborghini in a scene in the trailer, when they slyly replaced it with a cheaper yellow car in the last frame. Loads of their potential audience knows about this blooper, but they'll still probably watch it for the masala, which the promo has so diligently packed in.

For the final verdict, look out for Anupama Chopra's review tomorrow in the Watch& Listen page of Hindustan Times' Do! section.
Film: Race 2
Cast: Saif Ali Khan (last seen in Cocktail; 2012), John Abraham (last seen in Housefull 2; 2012), Deepika Padukone (last seen in Cocktail), Jacqueline Fernandez (last seen in Housefull 2), Anil Kapoor (last seen in Tezz; 2012) and Ameesha Patel (last seen in Chatur Singh Two Star; 2011).
Storyline: The film takes what was left from the quadruple-cross plot of the first part (Race; 2008) forward with a bunch of scheming and untrustworthy protagonists, supported by loads of heroes-walking-away-from-explosion scenes.
