Picture this — dark shadows, lizards and witch dolls hanging from trees. No, this scene was not out of a horror film. It was actually the setting for the press conference of Ek Thi Daayan that started at midnight on Wednesday.

Discarding the staid press conference routine, the makers of the
film put up unique acts at Filmcity. While we told you earlier how actor Emraan Hashmi, who plays the role of a magician in the film, performed an illusion trick on his co-star Kalki Koechlin, on stage, the meet also featured ‘daayan’ dolls hanging from tree tops and girls dressed as witches standing at the entrance handing out ‘misfortune cookies’ to the guests.

After Emraan performed a series of illusion stunts and eerie acts, he was joined by his leading ladies — Huma Qureshi, Kalki and Konkona Sen Sharma, who came dressed as witches, with white face paints on.

Later, creative producer Abhishek Chaubey, producers Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, and the entire star cast of the film, interacted with the media.

“We are showing two sides of a ‘daayan’ in our film. One side is very beautiful and the other is extremely scary. I can’t give too much details about the film. To know more, you will have to see the film,” Emraan told reporters.

As to who is playing the ‘daayan’ in the film, Vishal said, “Among these three girls, only one of them is a ‘daayan’ and I can’t say who she is right now.”

Emraan Hashmi initially got branded as a serial kisser. And who can blame the controversy theorist with films like Murder, Zeher, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Aksar and Gangster. After starring in Awarapan, Jannat, Raaz - The Mystery Continues, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Shanghai and The Dirty Picture, Emraan Hashmi has proved his acting prowess and put his detractors on mute.
