Vishal Bhardwaj
When there are two producers working together on one film, they are bound to clash at some point. And that’s what has happened with Ek Thi Daayan (ETD). Producer Vishal Bhardwaj wants the first promo of ETD to be attached with his upcoming release, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (MKBKM). However,
co-producer Ekta Kapoor doesn’t want the trailer unveiled on that day (January 11) as it falls on amavasya (new moon).

A source says, “There is no problem or any issue between Vishal or Ekta. Launching ETD’s promo with MKBKM is exciting, but Ekta wanted it to be launched on an auspicious day.” Ekta Kapoor says, “Ek Thi Daayan is our first big release in 2013 and we will launch it in a big way with an event on January 15.” Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, adds that Ekta was a bit worried about the amavasya factor. He says, “At the same time we didn’t want to lose out on attaching ETD with MKBKM.”

To add to that, the production house has a series of other events planned, none of which are run-of-the-mill kinds. “Balaji events are innovative and interactive and given the theme — supernatural thriller genre — and Emraan Hashmi’s target audience, they will be different to say the least,” adds the source. Directed by Kannan Iyer, the film also stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi and will release on April 18.

Among the fresher crop of actresses, Kalki Koechlin stands out for her 'foreigner looks' and unusual choice of roles, which have enabled the actress to carve a niche for herself in Bollywood.
