Ever since their first production, Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have made big-budget films with superstars. But with their next release, Fukrey, the duo will work with newcomers for the first time. They however maintain that they will spend the same amount of money on promotions as they did for their previous films.
A source close to the duo reveals, “Fukrey will star newcomers like Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh and Ali Fazal. And the makers are investing all their energy to launch the film in a big way.” The source also adds that the makers plan to spend around R5cr to R6cr on the film’s promotions which is almost as much as they spent for marketing Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011). “The film looks fresh and promising, which is why they are willing to take the risk. Both Farhan and Ritesh are of the belief that if the concept of the movie is good, then it will get its due.”
Ask Ritesh about this and he says, “This is the first time we are venturing out with newcomers. We are extremely excited about Fukrey and we would market this film like any of our other big movies. This is our only release this year.”
Fukrey is a fun-filled youth flick set in Delhi produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
