The makers of Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor’s upcoming film are going out of their way to capture the magic of Durga Puja celebrations for their movie. Since the film is set in the ’80s, the producers of Gunday have apparently spent almost
Rs.

“A lot of planning has gone into this particular sequence because it is a very important part of the film. To maintain authenticity, some very experienced professionals were hired to create the particular look of the Durga Puja pandal. And they did complete justice to what the director (Ali Abbas Zafar) wanted. He was very happy with the outcome,” says an insider from the sets.
After recreating the city from the ’80s, the film’s team recently shot a dramatic sequence under the Howrah Bridge amidst a cheering crowd. “Thousands of junior artistes were hired for the scene; they were all shouting slogans like, ‘Joy Bikram! Joy Bala! (names of Ranveer and Arjun’s characters)’. At one point, the crowd went a bit berserk too; that’s when extra security had to be called in to control the situation,” adds the insider.
The Yash Raj Films production, which is due to release later this year, also stars Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan in lead roles.
