Till date, not much was known, except for the fact that Hrithik Roshan will come together with Karan Johar and his Agneepath (2012) director Karan Malhotra for a film titled, Shuddhi. And though rumours have been doing the rounds on who could possibly play Hrithik’s leading lady, we have come to
know that the film itself is going to be based majorly in Rishikesh. And in all probability, Hrithik might also also be headed to the spiritual destination.
“Karan (Malhotra)’s wife Ekta has worked hard on the script. It’s going to be an engrossing and challenging film for everyone who is involved with it. Hrithik will start work on it immediately after wrapping up Siddharth Anand’s Bang Bang (that goes on the floors soon). If all goes according to plan, he might also travel to Rishikesh to shoot a portion of the movie,” says an insider close to the project. When contacted, producer Karan Johar confirms that Rishikesh has an important role to play in the film. He says, “Ekta has been working on the script relentlessly for the past year. And both (Ekta and Karan) have researched it extensively and made several research-based trips to Rishikesh. That’s one of the prominent locations for Shuddhi.”
The film, in all likelihood, will hit the floors around November once Hrithik is through with the release of his father Rakesh Roshan’s superhero flick, Krrish 3 that releases during Diwali. “Everyone in the Dharma Productions team is excited about it because the film puts Hrithik in a completely different space. No one is likely to talk about the film as yet, but it’s a different film from Dharma stable,” adds the insider.
Is Kareena Kapoor doing Shuddhi, as is being reported?
We will make an official announcement on the leading lady of Shuddhi in two-three weeks’ time. We want to announce things in stages. The first stage had the announcement of Karan making Shuddhi, and then there was Hrithik coming together with Dharma and Karan again. The third stage will have the announcement of our leading lady, who is a very important part of our film.
