Farah Khan and Boman Irani are starring together in Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi.
Wearing four hats is a tough task, says Farah Khan who started her career in Bollywood as a choreographer, then turned director and producer and is now acting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi, directed by Bela Sehgal.
“I should get a crown now. I have four

cards in the film federation — one each for choreographer, director, producer and now actor,” says Farah jokingly.
Are you upbeat about your acting debut? Can we hope to see you in more films?
Acting was a one off experiment for me. I am not a trained actor and I have no plans to continue as an actor. It’s a very nice script about two people and it suited my age. There’s lot of physical comedy in it.
Was it easy to emote?
For the emotional scenes in the film, I didn’t have to use glycerin for crying. I guess directing actors for dance and in films over the years have rubbed off on me.
Are you a romantic person at heart considering the kind of films you have made? Will we see that part of you in your acting debut?
Boman (Irani) and I have changed the idea of romance in this movie. We didn’t want to do the typical 16-year-old romance. We have made every scene quirky, keeping up with our age and personality. We gave all the scenes a little twist.
How about your next directorial venture, Happy New Year with Shah Rukh Khan?
The film will go on the floors by the end of this year. The script was ready last November but there are some changes being made. I wish to start it as early as next month but is not likely to happen.
It’s been a long gap after your last directorial venture Tees Maar Khan. Why?
I took one year off to write a kicker script. I wanted to finish the scripting before I started acting for Shirin Farhad.
Is the rest of the cast finalised?
Discussions are still on. Don’t make me give names or I’ll be in trouble. It’s better to keep them in mind until they are on paper. Shah Rukh is yet to talk to some people before we finalise things. We will announce the entire cast in some time.
