He may be riding high on the success of his film Ek Tha Tiger, but Kabir Khan hasn’t forgotten his roots. Having graduated from Delhi University (DU) many years ago, the director now plans to relive his student days through a film.
Kabir has been toying with the idea of working on a movie that highlights the unity among the students who come from across the country to study at the varsity. “DU has a very campus feel to it — a fact that I want to highlight in the film. Also, students from every part of India come to study there. Since it’s a spacious and scenic campus, shooting there will be spectacular. There are so many beautiful locations to choose from,” Kabir says.
Ask if he already has a story in mind and he says, “Not yet. I need to work on the script. Since I know the place very well, I don’t want to make a random film. The story must bring out the diversity that’s seen at DU.”
Clearly, the project seems to be very close to Kabir’s heart. So does he have any big names in mind for the cast? Kabir answers, “I don’t want to cast a big actor. I want a fresh face — someone new, who people can easily relate to. In fact, I feel that the star of my film will be the DU campus! I also want the students who are studying in the university to be a part of my film. If I cast a big name, these youngsters might not be able to act comfortably.”
