It was revealed recently that Pakistani pop singer Nazia Hassan’s hit ’80s song, Disco Deewane, has been reprised for Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial project, Student of the Year. But what had been kept under wraps is that besides the film’s lead cast — Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra — Kajol (whose last film appearance was in 2010 with Toonpur Ka Superrhero) will also be dancing to the yesteryear chartbuster.
“In the number, Kajol will be seen doing the hook step (a primary step that is repetitively used) with the boys. Like a true professional, she wrapped up her part within a couple of hours of walking into the sets. When Kajol was shooting, everyone, including Karan, was in awe because she looked absolutely smashing,” says a source.
When contacted, Karan says with a laugh, “Yes, when Kajol was shooting her portion, I was only looking at her. Her presence is electrifying. She has always been my lucky mascot. We had a ball when she was around.”
How did he get her to agree? Karan says, “Kajol and I have such a connection that we don’t have to request each other for anything. I just said, ‘I’m shooting tomorrow, will you be there?’”
Ask Karan if Kajol took time to pick up the steps, and he says, “No, she just came in, rehearsed for a while and picked up the steps quickly. For Varun and Sidharth, it was a great feeling to be dancing with her, since they have worked as assistant directors on
