Kay Kay Menon
He is famous for his powerhouse performances in films like Sarkar (2005), Life In A...Metro (2007) and Gulaal (2009). But for Kay Kay Menon, it is Hriday Shetty’s upcoming film that deserves special mention. The film, Chaalis Chauraasi will see the actor share screen space with his ‘guru’
Naseeruddin Shah.

“I have known Nasser for a long time now — since 1995 to be precise. And during our long association, we have had a wonderful time. I have been a part of his theatre group Motley. In fact, I was a part of his plays like Mahatma V/s Gandhi (1998),” says the actor, who also worked with his mentor in Bhopal Express (1999).

Kay Kay, who got his break in Bollywood with Naseem (1995), confesses that Naseer “has been a guru of sorts” in many ways. “It’s always a pleasure when you work with your guru. At the same time, I must say that Atul (Kulkarni) and Ravi (Kissen) too are fantastic co-stars. There’s a lot of comfort level between us,” says the actor.

About his upcoming film, he adds that it’s a “completely new role”. “The most interesting bit is that the entire story takes place in a police van. And of course, one of the best things is that I got to work with Naseeruddin again in this film,” says Kay Kay, who had also starred in several TV shows like Pradhan Mantri.

Ask Kay Kay what’s keeping him from the big screen lately and he’s quick to say, “I am just picking the best films from the offers I get. And I happy with the way things are going.”

Any plans to become a director? “Right now, I am happy being an actor. I am not even thinking about the director’s chair,” says Kay Kay, who has his hand’s full this year with films like Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi and Enemmy.
