Naseeruddin Shah's son Imaad Shah, who made his debut with the film Yu Hota To Kya Hota, was also seen in the film Dil, Dosti, Etc.
Winds of change are in swing and who could romance them better if not the young. “This film is essentially a notion of rebellion coming from the youth of today who stand at the vanguard of a revolution. Like the counter cultural movement of the 60’s, this movie signifies a sweeping form of
radicalism gripping our generation,” says 24-year-old photographer turned filmmaker Agneya Singh helming M Cream, a film first of it’s kind.
Starring actor Imaad Shah, Ira Dubey, Barry John, Tom Alter and Lushin Dubey among others, it has been shot extensively in New Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. Currently in post-production, it is slated to release in the summer of 2013. “M Cream is about four Delhi University students who embark on a journey in the pursuit of pure hash but a series of events force them to explore the reality of rebellion,” says Singh, a graduate from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Ask him if he faced any impediments handling the cast and crew, given that he was only 22 when he started working on the project, he admits, “Being younger doesn’t help. The reactions were crazy initially and there were a few hiccups. But we managed.”
Relying mostly on crowd funding, it wasn’t easy to chalk out a budget for M Cream. Question him as to why didn’t he approach Bollywood producers, Singh recalls, “I was scoffed at by one of them who told me that if I don’t have a star in my movie then it is a niche film and may not find investors.” As to his message for budding filmmakers, Singh says, “Keep at it. Keep true to your visions and keep going. Do it and it will get done.”
