She did have a dream debut with Amitabh Bachchan, but actor Shraddha Kapoor’s first movie Teen Patti tanked at the box-office. The following years weren’t very thrilling either – the three-movie-deal with Yash Raj Films was discontinued, her next Luv Ka the End fizzled, despite all the auditions she had to stay away from the big-screen for about a year.

However, things have changed a lot post Aashiqui 2, the blockbuster which garnered Shraddha much praise, “Things have changed a lot. I have seen people’s attitude change overnight, right in front of my eyes,” shares Shraddha, adding, “People have become so nice to me now. Before Aashiqui 2 happened, I gave so many auditions, but things didn’t work out. In fact, I was cast in a movie and later replaced.”

There’s no dearth of offers for her now and the sultry lass is enjoying all the success. “I am enjoying every moment. And I am glad that I got to see people’s real face. So it’s a good thing this (success) didn’t happen earlier. It has also helped me stay grounded after my film’s success. Like my father always says, ‘Don’t let the success go to your head and failure to your heart’,” says Shraddha who was in the Capital to promote Wella Professionals hair colour.

Her father Shakti Kapoor is a veteran actor himself, aunt Padmini Kohlapuri is known for her acting skills too and her distant aunts Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle are venerated singers.

Her brother has taken the filmy legacy forward with Shootout at Wadala. “We share a great bond. I do think he has an advantage over me as a male actor,” she smiles mischievously, quickly adding that it’s because, “He gets dressed in a jiffy while I spend a lot of time getting ready.”

Talking about looks, she shares with us that she likes to experiment with hers. “As a teen, I had coloured my hair red once. My parents were shocked initially, but they were ok with it when they saw me happy,” she smiles. Shraddha wishes to also experiment with singing. She wants to sing in her own films someday.
