directorial venture, Gangs of Ghost, will be sporting a look similar to the legendary actor in the song, Dil apna fokat me nahi dungi. Mahie is known to have done a lot of research on the veteran actor to get a detailed understanding of her body language. She also watched her films to get the nuances right. “I’m a huge fan of Meena Kumari and it was a great honour for me to emulate her on screen.
The opportunity was in no way less than perfect. I studied her in films like Baiju Bawra (1952) and Dil Ek Mandir (1963),” says Mahie, who is best known for her role in the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster series.
Mahie has also worked on her make-up to look like the yesteryear actor. “She took a lot of interest in the styling of the song and also gave personal inputs in terms of outfits and make-up,” says a source close to the film.
The track required a retro feel and the director is pleased with the final outcome. “We wanted the song to have an old-world feel. That is why we fashioned Mahie's look on the lines of the great Meena Kumari. It has come out terrifically and Mahie has done a great job,” says Kaushik.
