But the film that’s getting him all the attention is Murder 3. The actor has replaced the Bhatt camp’s blue-eyed-boy Emraan Hashmi in the third instalment of the Murder franchise. While this news had shocked most, Randeep is nonchalant about it. “Yes, I am pretty excited about doing Murder 3 as the script is brilliant.”
Emraan Hashmi rose to fame with Murder (2004) and later Murder 2 (2011), making the franchise synonymous with his name. Ask Randeep how it feels to step into someone else’s shoes and he replies, “I am doing a film, not carrying a legacy forward. I have no issues with who did the role before me or who will do it later. Mallika Sherawat too is associated with Murder, so why isn’t anyone making a fuss about her not being in Murder 3?”
Meanwhile, Randeep has been busy juggling four other projects simultaneously. “After being out of work for a long period of time, now my hands are full. Since I have seen the downside of not having enough work, I am making the most of this time. I don’t think I have had a year where I had two big releases.
You have to make enough noise to be cast in the right films and the best way to make that noise is to do lots of good work,” he says.
