In Chandigarh, internationally known musician Panjabi MC talks about the powerful Punjabi music and his plans of staying away from Bollywood
Best known for hit his song Mundian tu bach ke rahi that was later featured in the 2002 film Boom, singer Panjabi MC is all set to make his Bollywood debut now.

The UK-based artiste will rap in a song titled ‘Hayy!’ in Yash Raj Films’ next, Mere Dad Ki Maruti. The song also features singer
Manake. “It was a fantastic experience to be part of Yash Raj Films, Bollywood's biggest studio. The song came to me with a very clear brief, so it was easy and a lot of fun for me to work on it. Also, given that the story is set in Chandigarh, scoring Punjabi music is second nature to me. And since somewhere deep down, every boy loves his gaddi, that’s exactly what this song is about — loving your gaddi and your kudi.”

According to a source close to the production house, the song (that goes on air today) will play during the opening credits. It will also introduce the film’s leads — Saqib Saleem and Rhea Chakraborty.
