One of the most memorable films of Sanjay Dutt is Kaante. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the film revolves around the six main characters that are detained by the LAPD, and interrogated about stealing a truck full of laptops and its whereabouts.
Actor Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming venture, the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Saamy (2003), which is being directed by KS Ravikumar, is half way through its filming and yet doesn’t have a title. The working title for the film, Thanedaar Returns, was apparently giving the wrong impression of being a sequel
to Sanjay’s 1990 hit Thanedaar. Now, news is that the makers have finally decided on the title Policegiri for the action flick.

“The idea of having the same name as the Tamil flick, or even Thanedaar Returns, were was not working for us. Sanjay did not want to mislead the audience. So he sat down with me and the other members of the film and we brainstormed over a lot of titles,” says producer TP Aggarwal.

The makers juggled with names like Rudra, Powerplay, The Game Of Action, The Saviour, and Battle of Fire, before mutually agreeing upon Policegiri. “Sanjay felt the other names were very clichéd. He also noted words like dadagiri, gundagiri and Gandhigiri,” says Aggarwal.

Sanjay says, “The film is titled Policegiri and I’m confident that audiences will connect with it.” In the film, Sanjay plays a tough cop, with a humorous side.
