It seems we only ever hear of film shoots being postponed. This is good news then for all Priyanka Chopra fans. The shoot for her film (produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali), in which she plays Olympic medal-winning boxer Mary Kom, might begin three months ahead of schedule, by the end of March.
A source close to the project says, “The filming could start towards the end of next month. Though Priyanka’s dates have been blocked for June, some portions could begin earlier.” While director Omung Kumar does not confirm the new schedule, he says, “In the first week of March, I will do a recce for the film. We still haven’t finalised going to Manipur… I need to visit the place before we recreate it for the film. We will be shooting extensively in parts of Nepal and Himachal Pradesh.”
Meanwhile, Priyanka has started training in earnest for the role. “She started her boxing lessons on Sunday and has been picking up all the tricks really fast,” the source shares. Omung adds, “Priyanka is working hard towards getting it right. She’s training to perfect her physique and even the way Mary Kom conducts herself.”
While the actor is not usually a regular at the gym, she has started working out for this project. “PC is going to the gym regularly now. Mary is really fit, so getting the physique right is important,” the source adds. Meanwhile, the background research for the film, to get an accurate picture of Mary’s struggle and her life as an athlete, also seems to be ongoing.
