The famous Sridevi song, Oh Meri Chandi has been remixed by the famous band, RDB, for Samir Karnik’s Chaar Din Ki Chandni. And reprising Sridevi’s part in the song would be Yamla Pagla Deewana actor Kulraj Randhawa along side Tusshar Kapoor.
“Yes, Tusshar and I have performed on Chandni Oh Meri Chandni. But we haven’t tried to ape or compete with the original,” says Kulraj, adding, “We have incorporated it in a unique manner. Of course, Rishiji (Rishi Kapoor) and Sriji have done a wonderful job, but our take is different and I hope people like it.”
At the same time, Kulraj insists Chandni (1989) is one of her favourite movies of all-time. “I have watched the film and song several times because I am a big fan, not for our performance. It’s a beautiful song and makes you want to move anyway,” she says, adding, “RDB has remixed the song, but in a way that the original doesn’t lose it’s flavour and remains as interesting.”
Kulraj, plays the central character of Chandni in the film. “It’s a full-on rom-com. And the girl has the central role. So, it was a good opportunity for me. I play a happy-go-lucky girl, who thinks there is a solution to every problem under the sun. She has no inhibitions, is very naïve, but not dumb,” she says.
And lastly, ask Kulraj if there’s any truth to her having an affair with Karnik and she says: “Such talk is part-and-parcel of an actor’s life. Initially, it used to disturb me but now, I am used to it. There’s nothing cooking between us. I really respect him as a director.”
