Filmaker Ram Gopal Varma's visit to terror-hit Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh sparked a controversy.
The youth wing of the Samajwadi Party protested against Ram Gopal Varma for shooting a film based on the 26/11 terror attacks. The irate filmmaker, however, seems determined.

The party reportedly alleged that the film was being shot without permission at the actual locations and was not
based on accurate facts and figures. However, the Sarkar director denied both these charges, even claiming that everyone was 'going out of their way to co-operate' with him.

The filmmaker told Mumbai Mirror, “If they were sincere about their protest, I’d at least expect them to sit for a dialogue with me on what my intentions are in making a film on the 26/11 attack. I think political parties in our country keep jumping at the slightest pretext because that’s the quickest and easiest way to get publicity.”

26/11 attacksRGV defended the theme of his film. “Whether it was the plight of the victims or the amazing heroism of the cops, or for that matter the inhumanity of the perpetrators… all these aspects of the 26/11 incident deserve to be documented in a cinematic form for posterity," he told Mumbai Mirror.

Contradicting the party's allegations, the director also maintained that he had no ‘intentions’ of making a film based on the terror attacks when he visited Taj along with the then Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

What happened
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma came under fire from Samajwadi Party activists in Maharashtra on Saturday, for shooting a movie based on 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.  The activists shouted slogans near Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel, the centre of 2008 terror attack.

Samajwadi Youth Party president Abu Farhan Azmi even said, “Varma must not shoot at the actual locales of the terror attack and mock Mumbaikars.”
