In 2012, filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had announced his second film with Amitabh Bachchan after his directorial debut Aks (2001). After much delay, the film is set to start by the middle of this year.

An insider from the director’s production house reveals that the film got stalled as the co-producers pulled out. “The film was announced, the actors were in place and we had almost started shooting.

It was being directed by Rakeysh's chief assistant director from Rang De Basanti (2006) Akhil Bali. He had brought in another company, whose name I would prefer not to reveal, that was supposed to co-produce the film,” says the source. The film has Amitabh Bachchan and Ragini Khanna in the lead.

However the source reveals that it won’t be directed by Akhil Bali anymore.

One of Rakeysh’s partners Rajiv Tandon confirmed the development, saying, “We are reviving the film. The story revolves around a father-daughter duo. We will start with a new director now. The work is on.”
