Ram Kapoor, who is a popular face on television, seems to have developed an attitude problem. He has apparently avoided every promotional activity of his film, Mai, which marks the debut of legendary singer Asha Bhosle as an actor. And this has irked the film’s producer Subhash Dawar.

“We called him a number of times and even sent many of text messages. His manager was also intimated. However, he didn’t show any interest in the promotions,” says Dawar.

Ram, like any other actor, is bound by a contract to promote his film, but apparently ignores any intimation sent to him. “He is not taking any calls. And whenever he has reverted, he has said that he is either in Thailand or in the middle of some important shoot,” says Dawar, whose film releases this Friday.

The actor has a considerable female fan following and the makers had expected Ram to turn up at city tours, so that the film gained some extra mileage from his popularity. “This is a women-oriented film and Ram has a commendable female fan-following. Had he come for the city tours, the film would have got some more publicity,” says Dawar.

But the problem isn’t new. Ram was also absent when the first look of Mai was released on Bhosle’s 79th birthday in September 2012. “The entire industry was present but he chose to skip the event. He didn’t attend any of the press conferences or the music launch, where Sachin Tendulkar was present,” says Dawar.

Directed by Mahesh Kodiyal, Mai tells the story of a woman abandoned by her only son. Despite repeated attempts, Ram chose not to comment for this story.
